After years of throwing out or trying to recycle paper wrapping paper, my family said enough. We started with reusing paper gift bags and then moved to fabric shopping bags. They worked fine, but seemed, well... cheap and not very festive. So, I sewed some of my own. The first year, there were only about 5 of them, but our wrapping paper usage went down noticeably. Within our family, we have now reused the same brightly colored variety of bags for nearly a decade. And for the gifts outside of my family? I get notes now and then of the new 'life' that some of the bags have taken on, becoming an extra 'gift' themselves.
Now, I am very glad to share the tradition with Natibags and my Etsy shop.
The Better Way
We understand that gift wrapping is expected. It is part of our culture that a proper gift arrives covered so that it can be revealed at the perfect, exciting moment. In recent years, people have moved from taping paper onto a package to using a brightly colored paper gift bag lined with tissue paper. Natibags are made to not need tissue paper, but most certainly can be used that way.
